Integrity - Off The Bat

So as some of you know I just released my zine called Cornfed this past week. I have gotten some responses to it and I appreciate them but please keep responding with things you'd like to see and things you have to say in general to me on here or to my email (dannciembor@hotmail.com) or myspace (myspace.com/xbbpx).

I've been slacking

hey everyone i've been slacking alot lately. I have been in the works of getting my summer all planned out and working on moving out of the manor. Pretty bummed but I gotta and i'll definately miss everyone there.

Just an update on me. My 19th birthday is comin up July 1st. Pretty stoked to be 19 even though nothing cool really comes with that. The weekend of July 11th i'll be headin out to minneapolis to catch Mammoth Grinder and Hatred Surge on their way to Sound and Fury and then also catchin up with Tragedy at the Triple Rock on the 12th. I'm also hosting a house show at the Manor on July 19th with Mad Minds and Overload from Ohio. They are some good fast hardcore/punk bands to definately check out. Any Omaha locals who peep this get ahold of me so I can get you on the show. I'll also be heading out to Oxnard on July 30th to spend a few days in California for Sound and Fury and to hang out with a bunch of friends. Should be a good time.

Another reason I have been slackin lately is i'm in the works of putting out my own zine. It'll be spotlighting local bands as well as album reviews, personal experiences, and I definately will be requesting any locals or anyone who might read this blog to submit articles or anything they'd like to see in a zine.

I'll be having another album up for review and download later tonight. Thanks alot to anyone who takes the time to read this and/or download the albums I am all about and listens to them.

Tarpit - Vultures

I've sorta just decided to not necessarily do all albums that are "monumental" or "influencial" but jsut releases that I really like for various reasons.



This release has been one of my favorites that i've come along in awhile. This band hails from
virginia Beach. This was the third release from the band which came out in 2006. I have never been too disappointed in Virginia hardcore and this is definately my favorite of them all. Check it out.

Merauder - Master Killer

The 3rd album on my blog i'm doing is Master Killer by Merauder. This album is a complete classic and most anyone with the likes of heavy riffs, mean lyrics, and beatdown hardcore, this is your album.

It was released in 1995. This band hails from Brooklyn New York and has been in the game since 1990. There is not much to say about this band besides the fact that they're one of the hardest bands to date and for anyone who's a fan of biohazard, earth crisis, and madball, this is your jam.

Trial - Our These Our Lives?

I decided to do this Trial album because they were a very big band in the 90s. They were a political straight edge band passionate with the agony of this world.

The album was released in 1999 and in my opinion is one of the best albums of 90's hardcore. This band is reuiniting to play Burning Fight in Chicago in May. Super bummed I wont be there but definately get your hands on this record if you don't have it yet.

I think that the true meaning of hardcore is one thats very lost with new hardcore kids. There is no awareness of what hardcore was started as and how its about the struggle, displacement, and bullshit this world gives us. This album definately shows a lot of that with the lyrics.

American Nightmare - Background Music

So for my first review/post/release that I put up I think should always be a good one because you need to set the bar for your blog. The first one can make or break it. I decided that for my first one I would do a band that for many of the younger kids you may not know of or very well at all, American Nightmare.


The album is Background Music released in 2001. The band was formed in 1998. The band was started with Wesley Eisold, Azy relph Tim Cossar and Jesse Van Diest. They later became American Nothing for a brief period because of legal issues with another band named similar. After that short period the band was changed to Give Up The Ghost.


I think this record is one of the most influential records for our generation. It was a newer sound that set kind of a "mold" for what a lot of the bands up and coming within the past 6 years sound like. There is not too much else to say about this album except that I think its a very important record in every hardcore kids collection and definately a classic.

First Post

So I am making this blog for a few reasons. First off for those that don't know me i'll start with a brief explanation of me and my views about what I want to do with this blog. I'm Dann Ciembor aka Edge Dann, from Omaha Nebraska. Been straight edge for almost a complete 5 years. I've seen my fair share of bands and have seen a lot of people come and go and venues the same. I feel that a lot of value has been lost with hardcore (obviously) because of fashion, media, and popular culture. Hardcore was never a place for any of that but it seems to have come to a lot of that. Something has got to change.

This blog will be me posting reviews about albums that I feel are monumental to hardcore. Their will be new albums, old albums, EPs, demos, the works. I also will write about issues that I feel hurt hardcore as I feel. This blog is purely my opinion. I'm writing this for the kids who I feel are straying down the wrong path and in my eyes, are not staying true to the hardcore lifestyle they so claim.
